Survival Skills for Youth promotes confidence, competence, positive social interaction, and motivation to improve success in educational, social, and employment settings. While SSY targets youth who have a history of failure in academic and/or employment settings, or is considered at-risk, the program has proven highly effective for all adolescents; because all of our kids are at risk in today’s world!
The program is participant-centered in philosophy and approach. It is peer-driven, gender equitable, and uses teaming and cooperative learning, based on the attributes of the resistance model and the resilience theory.
SSY consists of 10 three-hour workshops, bringing kids together and preparing them to move on in their life.
