Workplace Survival Skills offers 24 workforce development workshops addressing five critical skill clusters with dynamic results: enhanced job retention, advancement potential, employee satisfaction, more productivity, and a competitive workforce.
WSS preempts issues of 1) challenges and conflicts outside the workplace that hinder peak performance, and 2) poor work performance.
A theme of personal goals and strengths weaves throughout the entire program.
While similar in design and methodology to our core programs, WSS offers more flexibility with the 24 workshops, each of which is 60-90 minutes in length. Facilitators may conduct a comprehensive program of all 24 workshops with an intact group of participants or implement an “open entry-open exit” class, where select participants begin specific workshops as determined by the skills assessment.
Skills development activities and assignments foster a greater sense of awareness, confidence, responsibility, and teamwork clustered in five key skill areas:
- Confidence and Personal Power
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills
- Life Management
- Teamwork and Leadership
- Job Success and Advancement
SSED, Inc. took over three years to develop and field-test this program. Curriculum has been determined by employer interview and research, including consult with the Secretary’s Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS), Work Keys, and Workplace Essential Skills.
