Welcome to Survival Skills

Survival Skills for Men promotes learning functional skills and breaking self-perpetuated barriers to success. Men grow in their roles within the workforce and family.

The program philosophy embraces two critical tenets:

  • We believe men have the strength and ability to help themselves and change their lives.
  • We encourage and support men as they build on their existing skills and learn new ones.

SSM consists of 10 three-hour workshops, progressing from an internal focus—what’s going on with the individual and his immediate environment, to an external focus—what is occurring within his community.

Workshop Topics

1. Survivors and Heroes
2. Advancing/Employment
3. Finding and Getting a Job
4. Money Management
5. Problem Solving
6. Legal Rights
7. Keeping Your Job
8. Personal and Family Health
9. Goals and Aspirations
10. The Family Man

Men become valuable employees and succeed on the job—and in their relationships. They become proactive instead of reactive. Men take charge of their lives, rather than having life take charge of them.
